Our Special Educational Needs Officer Named NIE Valedictorian

Our Special Educational Needs Officer, Ms Ong Jing Ning, delivered the valedictorian speech at the NIE Teachers’ Investiture Ceremony 3 on 2 July 2026. In her address, she reflected on growth, lifelong learning and the relationships that support educators. Here are some key messages from her speech:

Embracing change and lifelong learning

“While our commitment to support every student remains constant, the tools and strategies we use will continue to evolve. This means we can’t simply rely on what worked before. We need to stay curious, stay willing to learn, and be willing to try things that may feel uncomfortable.”

Learning through connections

“Some of the best ideas come from conversations we did not expect to have, and some of our greatest growth happens when we learn alongside and from one another.”

Making a difference

“As we step into this next chapter, I hope we remain open-minded, stay connected, and stay committed to making a difference in the lives of others.”
