Our Aim
At Ang Mo Kio Primary, our Science Department nurtures the joy of learning science by sparking curiosity and critical thinking through engaging lessons, hands-on experiments, and inquiry-based learning. We equip students for 21st-century challenges with social-emotional skills, ICT skills, and skills for self-directed and collaborative learning.
Our Approach
Our students engage in a mix of classroom learning and real-world activities that help them make sense of Science and understand applications to everyday life. To achieve this, the science learning experience in AMKP is made “visible, inclusive and authentic” with the following approaches:
Within Classroom

Inquiry-Based Learning
Students work together to explore real-world problems through experiments and data analysis, developing their inquiry skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

Infuse ICT in Learning
Through virtual simulations, SLS interactive lessons, and digital data collection tools, our students learn scientific concepts at their own pace.

Beyond Classrooms

Learning Journeys
Students explore science through visits to nature park and reserve (eg Singaore Botanic Gardens, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve), Science Centre, Zoo and workshops. Our school Eco-Garden Learning Trail, hydroponics and Automated Urban Farming systems provide hands-on nature and farming experiences.

Promote sustainability and environmental awareness
Science and Green champions advocate for environmental causes through World Water Day, Earth Day, and Biodiversity Day activities, and Clean Food Day, while maintaining eco-gardens and recycling initiatives.

Celebrating the Joy of Learning Science
Students showcase experiments, participate in hands-on demonstrations,
and explore interactive exhibits during Science Fiesta, celebrating scientific
discovery together. Selected students deepen their scientific inquiry through
E2K Science enrichment, Innovation Programme and represent our school in
Science Olympiad competitions.
